Decide What You Want & Set The Budget
This is one of the most important aspects of your event planning. When being tasked with planning an event, the first thing you need to find out is what type of event you are looking to organise. Is it a simple party night out, a corporate entertainment day with the team or are people looking for something completely different and unique? A quick e-mail or poll (try survey monkey, it’s free) will really help you decide what people want and will help you to identify activities that people may be interested in.
Make sure you create an itemised list of what the budget will and will not include. This way there will be no confusion with your boss, suppliers and your colleagues.
When planning your event budget it is important to be realistic and clear about what type of event you are aiming to deliver. Our advice is to create a simple excel spreadsheet. It would be good to include a row with each item you need and a description of what is required. It would then be good to include columns for estimated costs and actual costs.
